Sonnet on The Simple Life

To taste a breath of freshness after rain
Or nestle into pillows for sweet rest,
To linger long as swirling winds complain,
To understand the life we live is blessed.
To watch the stately eagle take to flight
Or smell fresh coffee at the break of day,
To savour cake before a single bite
And find enchantment when the sky looms grey.
To feel the tender spring of meadow grass
Beneath our toes as birds erupt in song,
To know that every stressful time will pass
And further flaming sunsets come along.
Consumer pleasures pale while nature gleams,
The simple things in life should fill our dreams.
