Spring’s Arrival
When April flowers imbibe the air with nodding scent
And light affords a subtle, welcome heat,
The mildness felt is ever kindly lent,
Successor to the winter’s vice-like snow and ice and sleet.
When April dwells and brings us renewed hope
That our cold lives will find that warmth we need,
We may emerge from chrysalis to catch this spark
And let the winter’s darkened heart recede.
